Take Away Points

  • Keep the electrodes close by the injection site
  • Use fresh electrodes with short electrode leads
  • Plan the approach to a series of injections by placing the reference and ground electrodes equidistant to all planned injections to avoid the need to move them.
  • EMG bandwidth ranges from of 10-600Hz. Using a device that can amplify within this range is needed for best results. This consideration ensures delivery of the most important EMG spectral elements at the lowest gain settings.  This will yield the best EMG guidance result seen on the display and heard on the high fidelity EMG audio.
  • Stimulation capability in both 1.0 mA and 0.1mA steps is essential to support both muscle stimulation and nerve location and motor endplate location procedures (Neurolytic procedures), which require much lower stimulation levels
